Marc was born in 1964 in a small community in Lac Saint-Jean in Quebec. At the age of 18 Marc began expressing his creativity through paints and while experimenting with many different techniques he developed his own style of modern painting; due in large part to the great American masters of abstract expressionism,like Franz Kline,Robert Motherwell,Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. On his way Marc crossed paths with a renowned American art critic, Clement Greenburg who proposed that Marc should go to University to solidify his art by supporting it with education. Marc attended the Chicoutimi University of Quebec between 1986-1989 and received his Bachelor degree in des arts plastiques. During this time his popularity was growing,due in large part to his exhibitions and museum events. Since arriving on the art scene Marc has made significant progress in the nudist movement as well as exposing his cultural diversity by offering Native Indian artwork. Michel at the Michel Blais Gallery was particularly drawn to Marc’s ability to express movement by using vibrant,bold colours in raw brush strokes,untamed only by the restrictions of the canvas. The art evokes emotion within all of us as we are able to relate to the vitality in all the pieces. Marc currently resides in Le Petit Champlain in Quebec City where he continues to paint and expand his form.

Michel Pleau graduated in industrial design. He participated in his first group exhibition back in 1974 and for close to ten years, he held annual solo exhibits. He has shown many of his works in New York, France and Spain. In the past few years he contributed to various publications and has won several awards, namely the first prize at the 1989 Canadian Painting Awards. For Michel Pleau, direct contact with nature remains the greatest source of inspiration and joy. For the past five years, his brush has been the spatula which he uses with poetry and freedom.

Claude Theberge was born in 1934 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. A graduate of the School of Fine Arts of Quebec in 1954, he continued his artistic studies in Paris until 1960, studying, successively, at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, the National School of Decorative Arts and the Ecole du Louvre. Returning to Canada as an abstract painter, he oriented himself toward interweaving architecture and drawing, which he made noteworthy numerous works expressed in sculpture, stained glass and large murals: Montreal subway, Viger Park, Parlement Complex, and Capitole Theatre of Quebec, Eastern Topographic Society of Boston, etc. But painting dominated his work exclusively in 1980, and with a resolutely figurative, symbolical, and hyper-realist style, he affirms his presence in expositions ever since: Paris, Chicago, Detroit, Moscow, St-Pteresburg, Copenhagen, Santillana, New York, Quebec, Montreal, and Toronto. He won the first prize of the United Nations for the International Poster Contest on World Peace (1954). In addition to the Scholarship of the Canadian Art (1966), he received the Arletty Prize in Paris in 1990 and earned the Gold Medal of the City of Clichy, France, as the guest of Honor at the 62nd Spring Show. The works of Claude Theberge enrich several public and private collections: L’Oreal-Lancôme, the Desjardins Movement, Esso, the Bank of Montreal, the Laurentienne, the World Trade Center of Toronto, the City of Clichy (France), the Aerospatiale (France), the Kennedy Collection (Boston), the Hannah Collection (Chicago) and the Capitale Insurance Co. (Quebec).

Born in Montreal on March 15th 1943, Andre Perreault began his schooling in Venezuela and Trinidad.From that young age he was seduced as much by the musical as the visual world. At that early stage he gained the admiration of teachers and schoolmates alike with his drawings of celebrities: Roy Rogers, Hemingway, Elvis…As a young man he entered the world of songwriters and “chansonniers” and in 1973 he was awarded a prize for one of his compositions in a national songwriters’ contest organized by radio-Canada (Title of the song: to the heart of the Indian).However, it was the visual expression, which won the battle. In 1975 after graduating at Montreal’s College Enthusiastic in graphic arts and with the encouragement of fellow artist, Allan Edwards, Andre decided to concentrate his energy painting in watercolours.Adventurously searching for new horizons he crossed the country numerous times with camera, drawing pad, brushes and paints; painting its people and picturesque corners.For more than a decade he anchored north of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where, from his studio, he works at perfecting his art, creating watercolours in its purest form thus refusing the use of opaque paints or other tricks-of-the-trade.In 1994, feeling he has been gone too long from his native Quebec, he packed his materials and for one last time crossed Canada to settle down in the picturesque area of St.Ferreol-les-Neiges in the charlevoix region.In addition to his watercolour painting, seeking new outlets of expression, he now works in acrylics creating from memory spontaneous images imbued with energy and perspective.

Born in Montreal, Francine Paquin and Bernard Frenette have been working, as autodidact, since 1974. In 1985 their common experience in creating pieces using the technic of Raku leads them towards sculpture and pictorial work. Since 1990, they devote all their energies to art painting. Their pictures are created with mixed technics: engraving on clay plates and painting with acrylic in harmonious half-tones. They are now settled down in Orford, in Quebec where a charming site, and a heavenly music inspire their work in which we can always feel warmth and serenity.

Abstract artist Pierre Patry was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec in 1956. He studied graphic arts between 1974 and 1977 in Ahunstic, Montreal before exploring the diversified discipline of print-making at Concordia University and The Studio at L’Ile de Val David. It is his sensual, luminous paintings for which he has been celebrated and which have been exhibited in over 40 venues since 1982 to resounding praise in the US, Germany, and Japan. In Quebec and France, especially, Patry has been awarded over a half -dozen prizes of merit. His works are collected by the Toronto-Dominion Bank, the City of Montreal, the Government of Quebec , and privately in America and Europe.
For Patry, the phenomenal process of abstract painting occurs via spontaneity and intuitive vigour: “It is rhythm that underlies the work, guides the combinations of shapes and colours, sometimes strong or violent, sometimes soft and subtle.” Richly applied tones prevail, from a potent palette of primary, earth, jewel, and metallic colours deftly accentuated by subtle whites and striking black. The resulting canvases and works on paper are sumptuous and seductive —- a virtuosity of expressive effect: “Between reality and abstraction, I express my emotions, that which I feel within me…”
