MICHEL LEROUX

(1950~) Born in 1950 to a family which encouraged creativity, in 1975 Michel LeRoux begins teaching at the Institut des arts graphiques de Montréal, to found an advertising creation company three years later. His great interest for his career notwithstanding, LeRoux is frustrated by his professions rigidity, and realises that oil painting offers the escape he’s been hoping for. Fascinated by nature, LeRoux seeks to convey on canvas the emotion he feels while in the woods. The huge success of his first exhibition in 1985 motivates the artist to surpass himself, and he undertakes a rigorous artistic process… Painting after painting, LeRoux aspires to purifying his subject, to the point where only its essence remains: nature’s intrinsic character.
